Sparkies Invitation to the United Nations Fashion and Style Network Conference: Discussion of Sustainability and Inclusion

The conference platformed a discussion regarding the future of sustainability and inclusion in the fashion industry. Sparkies had the honor of attending this conference and sitting in on the discussion of representatives that held the same values of these subjects being pivotal discussions for the industry.

NEW YORK, NY- The panel and guest spoke on the necessity for brands to enforce creative and innovative implementations that promote practices that consider sustainable approaches in addition to inclusive designs that are accessible to people of all abilities. It is important for brands to obtain these values and have transparency regarding their efforts to further instore these values in customers to create positive change in the status of the industry.

“Altogether we are on the mission to make this world more inclusive, happy, sustainable, and welcoming to everybody regardless of their abilities,” said Product Manager & Owner of Sparkies Alina V Kuderska, after the panel ended.

As a brand that aligns with these values and advocates for inclusivity through adaptive wear, Sparkies operates within the same objectives that were discussed at the conference, including ideas and innovations for the future. To further the brand’s adaptability the brand develops functional snaps in the garments to match their specific needs. In continuation to this, the brand is considering including a QR code on garment tags that holds more detailed information regarding the garment for the patron’s knowledge. The company also plans to become involved in the circular economy through partnerships with other companies in efforts to reduce the carbon footprint.

In addition to the futuristic implementations that Sparkies is currently working towards, they currently value being transparent regarding utilizing third-party certifications such as Intertek upon retailers’ requests. As agreed by the panel, it is important for brands to have transparency regarding their supply chains for consumers to have knowledge of the product and promote the ability to question ethical practices that are in place or otherwise.
